Welcome to Probus Primary School

Welcome to the Probus Primary School website, I really do hope you will find it useful. We have tried to think of everything you might want to know about us and our learning community.

Probus Primary School is situated in a rural village just a few miles outside Truro, surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. We have currently 194 children from the age of 4 to 11 years on roll, with a further 24 children aged 2.5 to 4 years in our preschool 'Little Acorns' which is on the school site. Our school comprises a main building, originally built as a Wesleyan Day School in 1901 (see photo below right), and an extension that was completed in 2001.

It is my pleasure and privilege to be the Executive Principal of such a very happy school, alongside Miss Deanne Carden as Head of School. Our dedicated staff have the highest aspirations for all our children and are committed to nurturing and developing children’s learning. Each child is valued for their own talents, strengths and personality and we encourage the children to succeed and reach their potential, to have high self-esteem and a belief that they can achieve. Our children are well-behaved, they try their best and thoroughly enjoy all that learning at Probus Primary School entails!

Teaching and learning is at the heart of our school and we believe that every child is entitled to a rich and inspiring education that will nurture them as well-rounded individuals with the confidence, the ability and the desire to make the world a better place. We are currently using the Cornerstones programme for learning - based on enquiry, practical activities and memorable learning experiences both in and out of the classroom. It skilfully combines children’s natural curiosity with imaginative themes and experiences based on the new 2014 curriculum.

If you would like to know more about our school or arrange a visit then please contact school secretary Mrs J Davey and make an appointment.

I look forward to meeting you!

Mrs L McNamara
Executive Principal
