 WELCOME TO RECEPTION CLASS

Welcome to the Reception Class page. Here you will find out about your child's learning and any key information that you need to be aware of.

Mrs Arthur teaches on Monday and Tuesday with Miss Seviour on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Mrs Schofield is with the class everyday and covers PPA on a Friday afternoon.

Our PE day is Thursday, however we do ask that PE kits are in school every day to allow for flexibility.

We visit the school library on Wednesday afternoons, and encourage the children to change their books weekly to develop their love of reading and experiencing a range of stories and text types.

We change reading books on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and ask that books are read at least twice before being changed. If your child seems confident in reading, then encouraging them to discuss events and characters is a good way to develop comprehension. It is just as important for children to understand what they are reading as it is to be able to read the words.

It is important that children have named coats all year round and sun cream and sun hats for the summer term to allow us to explore the outdoors in all weathers. It may also be a good idea to provide a spare change of clothes in case of messy or wet play.

SUMMER ACTIVITIES

NEWQUAY AQUARIUM AND BEACH TRIP
On Monday Class R smothered themselves in sun cream and headed off to The Blue Reef Aquarium in Newquay to discover 'Who lives in a rockpool?' - linked to our topic. They had a fantastic time searching for life within the tanks and even getting to touch starfish and crabs. They were all very brave - particularly when the big Spider Crab made an appearance! We also learnt a little about polluting the sea - something that we are going to look at further this week in school.
Following this busy morning, they took to the beach with buckets and spades in hand ready to build the best sand castles ever! They had an amazing time climbing the rocks and working together to dig and build.
Take a look at our photo's to see how much fun we had!
