Humanities

At the core of our curriculum is the belief that children learn better when their interests and fascinations are allowed to flourish, where they are encouraged to explore subjects in a variety of ways and are viewed in terms of their strengths, not their weaknesses. The delivery of the Humanities subjects (History, Geography and Religious Education) are intrinsic to and woven through the Cornerstones Imaginative Learning Projects for every year group. These projects are consistently delivered, across all phases, in 4 stages; Engage, Develop, Innovate, Express.

For RE we use the Cornerstones Love to Celebrate scheme which includes 36 Imaginative Learning Projects (ILPs) for Years 1–6 based around Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and Sikhism and three Nursery and Reception projects covering a range of religions and world views. The ILPs are designed to be used flexibly, allowing us to choose projects which suit the needs of our children and cover the requirements of our locally agreed syllabus for RE.
