For KS1 specific phonic and spelling sound wallets and tasks are sent home regularly.
In KS2 the weekly homework tasks take a variety of forms as set out below:
- There may be a short piece of research / a question related to upcoming topic work
- There could be a literacy task; this will normally be linked to the learning from the current or previous week, although it may be linked to future learning
- There may be a short maths task or handful of questions, again linked to current or previous learning
- As children move through Key Stage 2 there is the expectation of consistent letter formation and joined up writing. On occasion, there may be additional handwriting tasks
Please note that there may be one or more of the above examples each week. The size of each task will vary, dependant on your child’s year group and the complexity of the task. Children should still be reading at least 5 times a week, practising their times tables and learning their spellings.
We hope that this will, along with the ILP Plans, allow you as parents to have a deeper insight into your child’s learning. In addition, we wish to enable you to support them with their learning in a more structured way outside of school.
Homework is set on a Friday. Hand in day is Tuesday. Homework Club takes place Monday lunchtimes to enable children to access in school support / use a computer as required.
