Mr Hamilton
Class Teacher
Welcome to Year 5 Oak Class!
Hello and welcome to our Year 6 Oak class! I’m so excited to be working with your child this year and to share all the exciting learning we have planned.
Our Day Begins at 8:45am
Children can enter through the Key Stage One playground Or Ladock Road Gate. We begin our learning promptly with maths fluency, so it’s important to arrive on time and ready to go!
What to Bring Each Day
Please ensure your child brings the following items every day:
- Their reading book and reading record
- A labelled water bottle
- A positive attitude and a curious mind!
PE and Outdoor Learning
- PE kits should be kept in school and should consist of a black shorts, trainers and a white t-shirt.
- We will be enjoying Outdoor Learning, so please dress appropriately for the weather.
- In colder months, a warm coat is essential as we do take our learning outside.
Art and Creativity
Art can get messy, so please send in an old adult t-shirt labelled with your child’s name to help protect their uniform.
Homework and Reading
- Spelling homework will be set every Friday and tested the following Friday.
- We encourage reading at least five times a week at home even for our most able readers to build vocabulary.
- CPG book activities are set weekly and marked by the children the following week after feedback and discussion.
- In class, we’ll be exploring texts in depth through guided reading sessions, helping children develop their comprehension and interpretation skills.
Labelling
Please make sure all belongings are clearly labelled to help us return any lost items quickly.
A Little About Me
I’d love for you to get to know me too! Here are ten fun facts:
- I have bungee jumped whilst in New Zealand.
- I have slept through a hurricane in Fiji!
- I have enjoyed swimming with sharks.
- I love Sports, especially Athletics.
- I have a dog called Winnie, she's a cocker spaniel.
- I love to travel and experience different cultures.
- I have two children: Bodhi and Marley.
- I love to go to the beach.
- I wanted to be a PE teacher when I was younger, then I did work experience. It was very tough, so I decided to try something else; yet, here I am... a teacher.
- I love to try lots of foods from many cultural cuisines: peanut butter scorpions are one memorable dish for me.
My favourite childhood book was The Iron Man: I struggled with reading through KS1 and Lower Key Stage 2. This was the first book that I persevered with and completed independently.
I’m really looking forward to a fantastic year of learning, laughter, and discovery with your children. If you have any questions or need to get in touch, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Warm wishes,
Mr Hamilton
